Confessions of a Student Teacher: Part 12

Like I said last week, I felt as though it was my first week student teaching all over again. We just returned from Spring Break and it was really boring because we were reviewing for the AIMS test. Although it was boring, I made it through. I thought that this week would be just as bad. It wasn't, except for the hyper-activity of all the students. Yes, they were terrible. I have to admit that I wasn't expecting the students to be that bad but everyday I came home with a headache because they could not stop talking. Apparently the kids couldn't sit for two hours and then the rest of the day. I heard that kids around the Gilbert area were all really bad... so says my visiting teaching partner. We really didn't do a whole lot this week because we didn't want to overwhelm our students. So, we did a little bit of review on Monday and then the rest of the week we played games. We played an order of operations game (it was a game that we made up) and then for two days played Yahtzee. Most of the students didn't enjoy it, I don't know why. Today we went to the computer lab and played math computer games. There are a lot of really fun games. If you want, the website is www.coolmath4kids.com. We had to monitor them closely because we didn't want them to go on any other website. There were only about 4 issues out of all the periods. The students had fun and so did I. Next week we go back to our normal routine of lessons, homework, and tests. This is going to be interesting. Anyway, that is pretty much about all I have to say, I'll let you know how the students adjust to their old routine again.
On a side note, I finished my graduation announcements! They are really cute. Simple, but cute. I also got my cap and gown in the mail the other day. Next weekend Karen and I are going to go shopping for a dress to wear. I'm so close I can almost taste it!
